The Moto E is a cheap device and it has some pretty decent specifications when the price is considered. Released in 2014, the first generation of Moto E comes with a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen with resolution 540 x 960 pixels, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, Snapdragon 200 chipset coupled with Adreno 302 GPU, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB of internal storage, 5 MP front-facing camera and a 1980 mAh battery which is designed to last for a while, considering the non-demanding specs of the phone.
The phone is running on Android 4.4.4 KitKat at the moment, but you can update it to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow using CyanPop ROM thanks to RolanDroid who has made this possible.

CyanPop Marshmallow ROM is not completely stable just yet. Most of the important things like RIL (calls, SMS, data), WiFi, Bluetooth, camera and video recording, video playback, audio, sensors, flash and LED. GPS requires a signal lock from stock to work correctly.
You also need a custom recovery such as TWRP to flash the required files. Download the latest version of TWRP here.
1. Download CyanogenMod 13 ROM alongside Marshmallow Google Apps and move them to the internal storage of your Moto E.
2. Turn off the phone and boot into recovery mode. Perform a full Nandroid system backup and wipe data and factory reset.
3. Select ‘Install’ and navigate to the folder where the ROM and Google Apps are located. Flash the ROM first and Google Apps first.
Once you flash both files, restart your phone and wait for it to boot up. The first boot might take some time since the system is optimizing all the apps. Enjoy!
